Hill-Behan Lumber Company, Harahan, Louisiana
Lagniappe Environmental was retained in 2004 by Hill Behan Lumber to conduct a Phase II ESA, RECAP Assessment and a Corrective Action Plan (CAP) for the 10-acre former lumber supply facility. The subject site is located at 6121 Jefferson Hwy. in Harahan, Louisiana. LE conducted the Phase II study, then the RECAP Investigation for a diesel UST/AST, which was composed of Diesel contaminated soil at a depth of 10 feet. LE then submitted the CAP, which called for the excavation of the Diesel contaminated soil in two-foot lifts and the recovering of the area with clean fill.
Lagniappe Environmental selected Ranger Environmental to complete the CAP. LE then provided construction oversight for the CAP, completing the $55,000 construction project on budget. Approximately 100 yards of contaminated soil were excavated and the area was covered with clean fill. After the CAP report was approved by the DEQ, a conveyance notice was recorded with Jefferson Parish. The Certificate of Completion was then issued by the DEQ. The entire costs for the project totaled about $70,000.
